Accessibility.

Metro SI exists to reach people today’s technology leaves out.
Our own site should never be one more barrier.

Our standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

What we built in

  • Every part of the site works with a keyboard, and a Skip to content link comes first.
  • Keyboard focus is always visible.
  • A Pause motion control in the footer stops all animation, and the site follows your device’s reduce-motion setting.
  • Images and diagrams have text alternatives.
  • Text and controls meet contrast guidelines, and pages remain readable when zoomed to 200% or viewed on a phone.
  • Headings and landmarks give screen readers a clear outline of every page.

The welcome question

The site opens with a question that takes a one-word answer. The hint beneath the answer field explains what to type, and capitalization and accents do not matter. If the question gets in your way, write to us and we will help.

Tell us

If any part of metrosi.org is difficult to use, email [email protected] with the subject “Accessibility.” Please include the page and a brief description of the issue. We read every message, and we will provide the information in another format if you need it.
